West Supply are the NZ agents for Frontrunner Roofracks and Accessories. It’s owned and run by Joel and Beth from Feldon Shelter [you can read their interview HERE]. As mentioned in that interview they had an immediate plan to set up a retail outlet. A space where they could showcase the roof tents and all the Front Runner Gear. Of course the retail space at 5 Waimauku Station Road has grown into far more than that.
The centre pieces of the store are the rooftop tents. Cleverly set up, one at eye level on an old Landy roof and one at vehicle roof level. You can climb on in and really get a feel for roof top living. But there’s just about everything you need to get out and stay out. Brands like Coleman, Maxtrax, Dometic, Roadsafe, Yeti and more are also stocked.
Need a coffee…redundant question… West Supply have partnered with Kokako Coffee and are brewing their own blend of beans in the cafe inside.
Need a new board? That’s covered too, Dan Marsden is also on the premises handshaping beautiful surfboards just down the driveway. There’s a rack of his tantalising sticks in the store.
It has to be said the Waimauku position is pretty clever; just at the intersection to Muriwai and Maori Bay, and on your way to or back from Woodhill.
After a bumpy road of Level changes, West Supply is now open for business. We were lucky enough to have a sneak peak prior to Level 3, it’s retail heaven for any Recreationalist.
Joel adds; “It’s been a dream of ours to create a space that encompasses everything we love about travelling this fine country we all call home. So we’re excited as all hell to introduce West Supply.
For the past 5 years, we’ve had the pleasure of creating quality rooftop tents for excited adventurers from all walks of life, and during our chats there’s always been one common question: “Where can I get other quality outdoor gear before we head away on our next mission?”. Well, after 12 months of busy hands & renovations, we have the solution, a new space for all things outdoors.”
