If you haven’t looked at the Outside Van website before, well, you’re in for a treat. Yes a very expensive treat, but a great insight into what’s possible and what rad innovations are coming out. Think heated floors, multiple lithium battery banks, induction cooking. USA company Outside Van, as the name says, are customised for Adventure campers like us. They specialise in creating convertible living spaces that accomodate our toys; bikes, boards etc.
Primarily based off 4WD Merc Sprinter vans that are available off the shelf in the USA. 4WD is available here as a new option, however there are very few on the 2nd hand market in NZ. Outside Vans aren’t cheap, even a preowned one will set you back $200,000-300,000 nzd. But damn they are cleverly and beautifully spec’d out. Here at Recreational Society, we kind of know we’ll never own an Outside Van, but they sure provide a ton of inspiration for the next modification.
